Proxima Symposium.
The Proxima Symposium is an international event organized by Brazilian and international scientists to strengthen the scientific community in the Global South. It aims to foster a local culture where young scientists gather to discuss cutting-edge research in biological and biomedical sciences. The symposium's interactive format encourages students aspiring to pursue international careers to engage closely with invited scientists.
Since 2013, we have been organizing international meetings in Biological and Biomedical Sciences in Brazil. The 2023 Proxima Symposium helped those interested in launching a career in international research by promoting interactions between speakers and participants throughout the event.
The last symposium took place in 2023, and it was a great success. For more information about the 2023 edition, please visit this website.
The Proxima Symposium includes:
- Scientific Talks by Principal Investigators. Invited speakers from the biological and biomedical sciences share their latest work and career paths with students.
- Short Talks by Selected Students. Undergraduate and graduate students present their research and discuss findings with renowned scientists. Abstracts were called for upon registration and reviewed by a board of reviewers.
- Poster Sessions. Students presented their research in poster format, offering another platform for discussion and feedback.
- Workshops Focused on Skill Development. Interactive sessions on career development and science communication helped students build essential skills.
- Networking Sessions. Opportunities for students to interact directly with invited speakers during lunches and dinners, fostering valuable connections.
